Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This Application Privacy Policy (“Policy”) outlines the information that Dihaver Tech (“Developer”, “We”, “Us”, or “Our”) gathers, how we use that information, and the options you have to access, correct, or delete such information when you use the PlayPing Android application (the “Application”).
Capitalized terms used but not defined herein shall have the meanings ascribed to them in the applicable Terms of Service.
1. Scope of Policy
Our mission is to provide developers, testers,... with robust network testing tools while maintaining the highest standards of data integrity and user privacy. To earn and maintain your trust, we commit to communicating transparently regarding the technical operations of our network simulation features.
This Policy applies solely to the Developer’s collection, use, and disclosure of data in connection with the use of the Application. This Policy does not apply to third-party websites, services, or applications that you may access through the Application, which are governed by their own respective privacy policies.
2. Information We Collect
We adhere to the principle of data minimization. We only collect and process the data strictly required to operate the Application’s simulation features, ensure stability, and support the advertising model that keeps the Application free.
There are three categories of data that we collect: Operational Data, Advertising Data, and Feedback Data.
2.1 Operational Data (Technical & Device)
When you use the Application, we automatically collect specific technical data required for the Application to function on your specific hardware. This data is pseudonymized and generally cannot be used to directly identify you as an individual.
| Information Type | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Device Attributes | We collect information regarding your device model, Android operating system version, screen resolution, and available storage. This is used for troubleshooting compatibility issues and optimizing the user interface. |
| App Performance | We track Application launch times, hang rates, and energy usage to ensure the network simulation does not degrade device battery life disproportionately. |
| Crash Logs | In the event of an Application failure, we collect crash logs via Google Firebase Crashlytics. These logs contain stack traces and device state information at the time of the crash. They do not contain your IP address or personal user content. |
| Network State | We access the status of your network connection (Wi-Fi vs. Mobile Data) to verify if the simulation environment can be established. |
2.2 Advertising Data
To provide the Application free of charge, we monetize via Appodeal and its partner ad networks. These partners may collect data to serve relevant advertisements.
| Information Type | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Advertising ID (GAID) | We and our partners use the Google Advertising ID (GAID) to manage ad frequency (capping), track ad conversions, and detect fraud. You can reset this ID in your Android device settings. |
| Coarse Location | We may process approximate location data (derived from IP address) to serve regionally appropriate advertisements. We do not collect precise GPS coordinates. |
2.3 Feedback Data (Voluntary)
We do not require user account registration. However, if you choose to submit feedback or bug reports via the Application:
| Information Type | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Email Address | If provided, your email is used solely to reply to your inquiry. We do not add this email to marketing lists without your explicit consent. |
| User Content | The text of your feedback and any screenshots you voluntarily attach. |
3. Network Simulation & VpnService Disclosure
This section is critical for understanding how the Application functions regarding Android’s VpnService API.
The Application utilizes the Android VpnService class to create a local, virtual network interface.
This is the core mechanism allowing PlayPing to simulate network conditions (packet loss, high latency, disconnection) without requiring root access.
- Local Processing: The majority of traffic interception and manipulation occurs locally on your device. The Application acts as a "loopback" to delay or drop packets based on your configuration.
- No Content Inspection: The Application does not decrypt, read, store, or analyze the content (payload) of your network traffic (e.g., passwords, messages, emails).
- Connectivity Maintenance: In limited scenarios, to prevent total connectivity failure during complex simulations, traffic may be routed through intermediary relay servers. These servers function strictly as data conduits; they do not log traffic content.
- Not a VPN for Privacy: The Application is a developer tool for testing, not a consumer VPN designed for anonymity or bypassing geo-restrictions.
4. How We Use Information We Collect
We process the collected data for the following specific legal bases and purposes:
- Service Provision: To execute the network simulation logic and ensure the VpnService remains stable in the background.
- Debugging & Improvement: To analyze crash trends (e.g., specific crashes on Android 14) and release stability patches.
- Monetization: To display advertisements via Appodeal, allowing us to maintain the Application infrastructure.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with legal obligations or valid law enforcement requests.
5. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We will not share or otherwise disclose your information except as necessary to provide our services or as described below.
5.1 Service Providers
We work with third-party service providers who process data on our behalf. These providers are strictly prohibited from using your data for any purpose other than providing the agreed services.
- Google Firebase (USA): Analytics and Crash Reporting.
- Appodeal (USA/Global): Ad mediation and delivery. Appodeal may share data with its demand partners (Ad Networks) to serve ads. Please refer to Appodeal’s Privacy Policy for details on their downstream partners.
5.2 Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to:
- Comply with a legal obligation, court order, or government request (including compliance with Vietnam’s Cybersecurity Law).
- Protect and defend the rights or property of Dihaver Tech.
- Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Application.
6. Data Retention
We retain data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy.
- Operational Data: Retained in aggregate form for up to 14 months (via Firebase retention standards).
- Feedback Data: Emails and support tickets are retained for 6 months after the case is closed, then deleted, unless required for legal records.
- Local App Data: All local settings and the generated anonymous app instance ID are deleted immediately upon uninstallation of the Application or clearing of app data.
7. International Data Transfers
The Application is operated globally. Your information, including Technical and Advertising Data, may be transferred to—and maintained on—computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those from your jurisdiction.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or Vietnam, please note that we transfer data to the United States and other jurisdictions for processing by our Service Providers (Google, Appodeal). We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and data processing agreements to ensure your data remains protected.
8. User Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including users in the EEA, California, and Vietnam), you have specific rights regarding your data:
- Right to Access: You have the right to request copies of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Deletion: You may request that we delete your personal data (e.g., your support email).
- Right to Opt-Out: You may opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting the "Ads" settings on your Android device (Settings > Google > Ads > Delete advertising ID).
To exercise these rights, please contact us at dihaver.studio@gmail.com. Please note that because we do not maintain user accounts, we may not be able to identify your specific data without you providing the specific Technical IDs associated with your device.
9. Security
We employ administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your information. These measures include:
- Encryption: Data transmitted between the Application and our servers (or third-party servers) is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security).
- Access Control: Access to crash logs and feedback emails is restricted to authorized personnel of Dihaver Tech only.
However, please be aware that no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Application is not directed to individuals under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
11. Notification of Changes
We reserve the right to update or change our Policy at any time. If we make material changes to how we treat our users' data, we will notify you by updating the date at the top of this Policy and, where feasible, placing a prominent notice within the Application. Your continued use of the Application after we post any modifications to the Policy will constitute your acknowledgment of the modifications and your consent to abide by the modified Policy.
